## Guides

- [Can You Cut Tempered Glass After Tempering?](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/can-you-cut-tempered-glass/index.md): Tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled, or edged after it leaves the furnace. Holes, notches, and edgework have to be finished first.
- [What Thickness For a Glass Shelf?](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/glass-shelf-thickness/index.md): Glass shelf thickness by span and load: 1/4" for a short light shelf, 3/8" for an everyday shelf, 1/2" for a long span or a heavy load.
- [Tempered vs Annealed Glass: What's the Difference?](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/tempered-vs-annealed-glass/index.md): Tempered glass is about four to five times stronger than annealed glass and breaks into small fragments. Annealed glass can still be cut. Here is how to choose.
- [Does Cabinet Glass Need to Be Tempered?](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/does-cabinet-glass-need-tempering/index.md): Most cabinet doors are not a hazardous location, so annealed glass is often allowed. Temper the tall doors and the ones people handle.
- [Low-Iron Glass vs Clear Float Glass: What's the Difference?](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/low-iron-glass-vs-clear/index.md): Low-iron glass removes the green edge tint of standard clear float. When it is worth the premium, when standard clear is fine, and what it costs.
- [What Is Tempered Glass and Why It Matters](https://www.temperededge.com/guides/what-is-tempered-glass/index.md): Tempered glass is heat-treated so it breaks into small, blunt granules instead of sharp shards. What tempering does, where it is required, and how to tell.
