Glass tempering on a horizontal furnace, 3–12 mm
The furnace is a 90" horizontal oscillating oven. It tempers flat glass up to 90" × 144". Every tempered lite leaves with a permanent temper mark and meets the standard that applies to the part.
Standards we temper to:
Architectural glazing
- ANSI Z97.1-2015 Class A: the higher impact classification, tested at a 48-inch drop (400 ft-lb)
- 16 CFR 1201 Category II: the CPSC safety glazing standard. Category II is the equivalent of ANSI Class A
Automotive glazing
- ANSI/SAE Z26.1-1996: American National Standard for safety glazing materials for motor vehicles
- FMVSS 205: Federal motor vehicle safety standard for glazing materials
- DOT 2050: our glazing manufacturer code, printed in the mark alongside the AS-2 / AS-3 designation
Category II / Class A is the higher of the two impact classifications, and it is the one the code requires for the openings where someone is most likely to fall into the glass: shower doors and tub enclosures, sliding patio doors, and doors with glazing over 9 square feet. We certify to it, so we can supply those locations.
We run low-distortion cycles for display and furniture work where reflection quality matters. Tell us the application and we'll set the cycle to match.
