Glass colors we usually have on the rack

This is the sheet we keep in Chesaning. If a job needs a color or a thickness that is not here, we order it. The furnace still runs up to 12 mm (1/2"). The rack itself tops out at 6 mm (1/4").

Low-iron, reeded, fluted, rain, glue chip, mirror, and most coatings are ordered for the job. Satin etch is a special order. We temper it here once the sheet arrives.

Visible light is the share of daylight that gets through the sheet, from our inventory. A higher number is a clearer view. Where the cell says Confirm, ask us before you design to a number. Six millimeter light gray is much darker than the 3 mm sheet of the same name. Four millimeter GL-20 is listed lighter (24%) than the 3 mm sheet (18%). Confirm that pair with us too.

Where these colors actually go

Garage and entry doors. A standard lite is clear. The 3 mm obscure is the privacy lite, for a garage or a front door the owner does not want to see through. Gray or bronze is how a tinted door series is glazed.

RVs and specialty vehicles. Factory tint is the gray or bronze the coach was built with. Light gray still shows the campsite. GL-20 dark gray is the privacy glass over a bunk. We match the light percentage to that opening. A dark sheet in the wrong location fails the spec.

Cabs and equipment. Tractors, off-road machines, and work trucks use gray or bronze so the operator is not looking through a clear lite all day. Dark gray is for a panel that is not the view out.

On-road glass. Side and rear tints have to stay inside the transmittance for that location. Light gray and bronze are the stock choices. GL-20 is dark enough that it is rarely right for a vision area. We will say so before we cut it.

Cabinets, shelves, and tops. Most of this work is clear. A cabinet door that should hide the dishes is 3 mm obscure. Frosted satin and reeded glass are ordered. Thicker than 6 mm, including a 3/8" or 1/2" table top, is ordered too.

Sunrooms and greenhouses. Roofs stay clear. A west wall can be gray or bronze from stock. Green is on the rack, and it cuts light, so we do not put it on a greenhouse roof unless you ask. Low-iron is ordered when transmission is the point, as it is on a display case whose edge is in view.

Made in the USA

MADE IN USA

All of the glass we keep in stock is made in the United States. The float comes from two domestic plants, one in Michigan and one in Texas, and we cut, drill, edge, print, and temper it here in Chesaning. Domestic float keeps the supply chain short and the freight down.

Low-iron, satin etch, reeded, fluted, rain, glue chip, mirror, most coatings, and anything thicker than 6 mm are ordered in for the job. Those are sourced as the job requires, so their origin can vary.

If a part has to be documented as made in the USA, tell us at quote time and we will build it from US float and supply the documentation. Insulated units sit outside this claim for now, since the spacer and sealant come from other suppliers.
